Applied Engineering Technology

Applied Engineering Technology aims to improve design and manufacturing methodologies through the hands-on application of engineering principles. Engineering technologists provide a range of services, from collaborating with engineers in the development of new products and processes to technical support and diagnostic services. They're the type of people who like to take things apart, see how they work, and try to make them even better before putting them back together.

Our program, offered through Drexel University's Goodwin College of Professional Studies, provides an integrated educational experience directed toward developing the ability to apply fundamental knowledge to the solution of practical technological problems. A Bachelor of Science in Applied Engineering Technology from Drexel at BCC will prepare you to bridge the gap between theory and production in the workforce.

The program can be completed in two years of full-time study. Part-time options are available.

Concentrations

  • Electrical Engineering Technology
  • Mechanical Engineering Technology

Sample Courses

Microprocessors – Introduces students to the fundamentals of microprocessing using an application-oriented approach. Includes fundamental principles and system requirements supplemented with specific implementation examples and practical circuits with detailed design.

Communication Systems – Introduces students to the fundamentals of communications systems using an integrated approach to analog and digital communications. Design and applications of contemporary communication systems are emphasized via the reduction theory to practice.

Fluid Mechanics I – Examines hydrostatics, the principles governing fluids at rest, pressure measurement, hydrostatic forces on submerged areas and objects, and simple dams. Discussions focus on fluid flow in pipes under pressure, fluid energy, power and friction loss, and Bernoulli's theorem.

Students enrolled in Burlington County College's Associate of Applied Science program and students who have completed similar coursework elsewhere may be eligible for this program. Visit the BCC website and review the required courses for the Associate of Applied Science.

Plan of Study for BCC Students

We've developed a comprehensive plan of study for BCC students who enter the Drexel at BCC Applied Engineering program. This plan outlines the required courses students must complete to receive a bachelor's degree from Drexel. It also indicates how the BCC semester credits convert to Drexel quarter credits.
